Winlaton & District Local History
Society was formed in 1970 with only
12 members, meeting in St Cuthbert’s
rectory in Blaydon. We now have over
140 members and regularly have 100
plus people attending each meeting.
We have guest speakers with slides and
film shows, giving presentations on
topics ranging from the history of
Winlaton to the 5000 year history of
Northumberland.
Developed from a very dedicated group
of researchers, our group has become a
monthly social evening where people
can explore their interest in the
history and origins of the area. It’s
also a unique opportunity to meet with
friends, form new friendships and
bring up your own points for
discussion.
We meet the second Tuesday of every
month at 7.30pm, in Winlaton West End
Club. Subscription fees are £4.50 per
year, £3.00 per year for senior
citizens and £1.00 for visitors. If
you would like to join the group or
come along to see what it’s all about,
why not pop along to one of our
monthly meetings…. we would love to
see you there!
